HOW I Can HELP YOU
If you are looking to improve your property, become a better habitat manager and/or a more successful hunter, then you came to the right place! Projects as large and time-demanding as property improvement should start with a detailed plan. A well designed property allows for better hunting by keeping pressure off of your deer herd. My plans are based on my experience and success with hunting heavily pressured mature bucks, backed by an education in wildlife biology and natural resources, and tailored to fit your goals, budget and timeline.

How It Works
Hunting mature whitetails is very different from hunting deer in general. There are a lot of details to go over while planning and the information can be overwhelming. Because of that, I do not believe in standard "one and done" consultations.
I follow a very simple 3 step process to ensure that my clients get the most from my service and are not left with unanswered questions. These steps are outlined below.
Step #1:
Getting Started
The whole process starts with a free conversation to discuss your current situation and how I can help you. We will discuss your goals and expectations, your timeline and budget for potential improvements, and the size and location of the property. At that point we can discuss pricing (based on the property size and location) and set a date for an on-site visit.
Step #2:
Data Collection
The second step of the process starts with some optional homework. I will send you information for a mapping exercise that will help us both visualize your current situation using an online mapping software (free OnX membership included if you do not already have one). This simple exercise not only helps bring me up to speed on your current situation, but also warms you up for potential questions or concerns that you might want to address during the on-site visit. The goal is to look at everything you already know and start looking for potential areas of improvement, then put a scouting plan together to confirm current information and add to it.

Then comes the on-site visit. We will walk your property together, during which time I will explain everything as I see it in regards to mature buck activity and potential. We will discuss bedding areas, food plots, travel corridors, stand locations and access, and my 4 key concepts of mature buck hunting.
Step #3:
Plan for Success
After we have walked the property, I will put together my report on current conditions and create a "Hunting Improvement" plan to move forward.

My plans are based on your goals, budget, and level of ambition. I keep them realistic and affordable to ensure that you are able to implement them on your current budget.

The final report/plan is written out and given to you in digital format. It will include maps, pictures and detailed explanations that you can refer to down the road. Larger properties are broken down into smaller maps to ensure there is enough detail.

*I number stand locations based on the level of pressure they put on the property. Lower numbered stands can be hunted more frequently as they are less invasive.

Once my report/plan has been put together, I will send it to you and for review prior to a virtual meeting which will address any additional questions or concerns, generally 7-10 days after the on-site visit.
Step 4 (OptionAL):
PLAN EXECUTION ASSISTANCE
I understand the time commitment required to carry out your habitat and hunting improvement plan, because I executed many plans on my own. Whether you are looking for short term help to set the plan in motion, or a long term manager to establish and maintain an efficient and productive annual routine on your property, I am here to help. I grew up with dirt on my hands and am not afraid of work! The sooner your habitat work is done, the sooner you see consistent success on your property.
When it comes to information on mature whitetails, there isn't much that hasn't been said before, but the delivery of that information often leaves a lot to be desired. It is my mission to always provide the most accurate information, and explain it in a way that not only makes sense, but is relevant to the situation.
About Me
My name is Thomas Mlsna; I am a full time whitetail hunting coach and habitat developer.
I spent the first half of my life as a farmer before pursuing a career in wildlife biology, only to wind up serving hunters and outdoor industry professionals for the last 10 years as the service manager for a top trail camera company.
I cut my teeth hunting whitetails in a high pressured, unmanaged area, where I had limited control over the situation.
I have been told that I am overly analytical, detail obsessed, and a perfectionist. The truth is, I did what I had to do to achieve my goals, and that turned out to be the only way to succeed in my situation.
Over the years, I have developed a thought process to take in the information I have, analyze it, and use it to target specific mature bucks. Having access to a nearly unlimited amount of trail cameras, I was able to collect an unfathomable amount of data with a wide range of variables, and sift it down to the elements that truly matter.

My background isn't in sales and marketing, it is in biology, agriculture and customer success. I am a problem solver. I have reached the top of the mountain with my whitetail hunting journey, and through my experiences I am able to guide others along their own path at a much quicker pace than I endured, by helping them avoid or overcome the obstacles along the way.

I started talking with Thomas last summer, about a specific buck I was after. I have been hunting mature whitetails for 15 years, but Thomas opened my eyes to some new things to try and showed me that I was overlooking a possible bedding area that this buck could be using. I snuck into that bedding area one mid October morning and killed that specific buck about an hour later.
Thomas is a wealth of knowledge on killing big mature whitetails!

I am always trying to learn as much as I can about whitetails and bow hunting. Finding a mentor that is approachable, respectful and non-judgmental when you are just starting out can be intimidating . I consider Thomas one of my most respected hunting mentors. Thomas is personable, respectful and professional. His knowledge was integral in helping me harvest my biggest buck to date. With his guidance I was able to study weather patterns, wind direction and pattern the movement of my target buck.

Having known Thomas for close to 10 years through the outdoor industry, it was clear from Day 1 that he was a HARDCORE outdoorsman and above all else, a wonderful human being. Early on in our relationship, his obsession for world class whitetails became very evident. He would consistently harvest bucks that would be once-in-a-lifetime deer for the average hunter. His approach and the level of humility that he has maintained in spite of his success is something I truly respect about him in a day and age where big bucks are too often accompanied by big egos. If you are looking for someone to come up with a game plan that will put that elusive target buck on your wall each fall, Thomas Mlsna is the man for the job. Period.
The Untamed Ambition is a brand epitomizing the drive it takes to overcome obstacles and achieve goals. We go the extra mile to help whitetail hunters of all skill levels. We teach new hunters how to hunt whitetails, and experienced hunters how to target mature whitetail bucks. We work with land owners, permission hunters and property lessees to create custom whitetail habitat solutions that work. We even work with public land hunters that are looking for an affordable hands-on education.
